Chicagoland Black Chamber says O’Neill Burke is using shady tactics (Chicago, IL) — The Greater Chicagoland Black Chamber has expressed their profound concern regarding the recent actions of Eileen O’Neill Burke, which appear to be designed to mislead Black voters during this critical election season. It has come to their attention that O’Neill Burke is prominently showcasing her Primary Endorsement from the organization, which was formerly known as the Chicago Southland Black Chamber of Commerce. This representation is both misleading and troubling, raising serious concerns regarding her ethics and suitability for the Cook County State’s Attorney office.

As an organization dedicated to supporting the interests of the Black community, the Greater Chicagoland Black Chamber carefully evaluates candidates and endorses those who demonstrate a genuine commitment to its values and priorities. In both primary and general election cycles, the Chamber has endorsed candidates based on their records, community engagement, and overall alignment with its mission. Both Bob Fioretti and Eileen O’Neill Burke received endorsements during their respective primary races; however, after thorough consideration and in light of ongoing developments, the Chamber has decided to endorse Bob Fioretti for the upcoming general election.

Over the last several months, it has become increasingly clear that Eileen O’Neill Burke has demonstrated little genuine interest in the concerns and needs of the Black community. Her recent emphasis on her primary endorsement can be viewed as a strategic maneuver to sway Black voters, particularly in light of serious allegations regarding her treatment of and disinterest in Black children, voters, and community leaders. Such actions undermine the trust and integrity that are essential for effective representation and leadership.

In contrast, the Greater Chicagoland Black Chamber stands firmly behind Bob Fioretti for Cook County State’s Attorney. His extensive experience as a civil rights attorney, combined with his compassionate service as an alderman, positions him as a strong advocate for community safety and justice. Fioretti’s commitment to addressing the pressing issues of rising crime and the need for a responsive and engaged State’s Attorney’s office is precisely what the county needs to navigate the challenges it faces. Notably, Bob Fioretti was recently endorsed by civil rights leader and icon Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr., further underscoring his dedication to the Black community.

As the crucial election approaches, the Greater Chicagoland Black Chamber urges all voters to take a moment to carefully evaluate the candidates and their true commitment to the community. It is essential to support those who have a proven track record of dedication and service rather than those who may seek to manipulate public perception for personal gain.
