City of Harvey Passed 2025 Budget with No Tax Levy Increase (Harvey, IL) – The City of Harvey City Council unanimously passed the 2025 budget at its final meeting of the year on December 12, 2024. As promised earlier this year, Mayor Christopher J. Clark ensured there would be no tax levy increase from the city for 2025, delivering on a commitment made to residents in July.

“Harvey residents have faced significant financial challenges, and it was imperative to hold the line on taxes,” said Mayor Clark. “By ensuring no tax increase, we are helping to ease the financial burden on our community and prevent additional strain on families already working hard to make ends meet.”

While the City of Harvey is one of several taxing bodies, including the library district, park district, and other entities, the Mayor emphasized the city’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and relief for taxpayers.

The pledge not to raise taxes, first announced in July, was part of the Mayor’s broader effort to promote economic stability in Harvey. Mayor Clark also highlighted the need for accountability among other taxing districts in the region to help mitigate the financial pressures on residents.

“Our city can take steps to support residents, but real relief requires a unified approach,” said Mayor Clark. “I continue to call on neighboring municipalities and other taxing bodies to consider their role in reducing this burden.”

The approved budget reflects the city’s priorities to maintain essential services while remaining sensitive to the economic realities of the community. The Mayor’s administration has also focused on addressing overdue commercial property taxes and improving fiscal health without passing additional costs to residents.
