Keith Pekau Reaffirms Mayoral Forum is Still On at the Orland Park Library on March 7th (Orland Park, IL) – In light of uncertainty surrounding the Orland Park Chamber of Commerce’s Mayoral Forum, Mayor Keith Pekau confirmed the moderator and the room at the Orland Park Library remain booked for March 7th at 8:30am and he will be in attendance to answer questions.

As of the time this press release is being sent, we have yet to receive communication from the Orland Park Chamber of Commerce on the status of the forum, so we assume it will still take place. At 6:57pm on Monday, February 24, the below statement was sent reaffirming Mayor Pekau’s planned participation:

“Sarah and the Orland Park Area Chamber of Commerce,

We plan to participate in the Mayoral Forum as previously discussed. We have seen social media posts that it has been canceled, but have not heard this from you.

Our team believes the Mayoral Forum should be livestreamed to promote transparency, neutrality and give everyone a chance to see the entire forum, unedited. When a forum like this is livestreamed, people can watch it in real time and there is no concern about edited content. That is real neutrality.

Mayor Pekau stands firm in bringing a videographer at our expense to livestream the forum. We extend the same offer to Jim Dodge if he would like to bring a videographer to also livestream the forum. We also agree that both Mayor Pekau and Jim Dodge will wear microphones for each other’s video streaming.

Mayor Pekau will never turn down or back out of a forum-he has too much respect for the people of Orland Park. Mayor Pekau expects that a Mayoral Forum will take place and that it will be live streamed so that the residents of Orland Park get full transparency.”

Whether the Mayoral Forum is officially hosted by the Orland Park Chamber of Commerce or not, we have confirmed that the moderator and Library remain scheduled. Additionally, a videographer will livestream paid for by Mayor Pekau, and we welcome Jim Dodge to bring a videographer as well.

Livestreaming the forum promotes transparency, neutrality, and gives everyone a chance to see the entire forum unedited. As Mayor Pekau told the Chamber, he will never turn down or back out of a forum, he has too much respect for the people of Orland Park.

Mayor Pekau encourages residents to attend or watch the forum via the livestream, and to be prepared to submit questions to the moderator. Mayor Pekau is eager for the opportunity to speak directly to Orland Park residents and answer all of their questions.
