Lindop Staff Responds to PTA President’s Criticism of Lindop as “Headed Downhill” (Broadview, IL) – The following statement was delivered during the three-minute public comment period to the Lindop School District 92 Board of Education at the beginning of the October 15, regular Board of Education meeting by Lindop Pre-K Program Coordinator, Lindop Teacher Association Treasurer, and PTA Member Jen Zinga:

“Tonight, I want to take a moment to address a matter that weighs heavily on my heart – the negative politics that have been directed towards our school, our dedicated teachers and our community as a whole.

I came across an article in the Village Free Press regarding candidates for the upcoming mayoral election. A quote that was made by the President of our parent-teacher association, Ms. [Angela] Patterson, just doesn’t sit well with me, ‘Our community was headed towards Oak Brook, now we’re headed downhill and we want to know why,’ and she later goes on to use her platform to discuss our school district’s test scores. What about other schools that are in Broadview?

Our PTA is comprised of parents and teachers. I can speak only for myself, but it will be a hard sell to get teachers on board when the President of the PTA is not standing alongside our educators.

I am hurt. Our teachers and administrators pour their hearts and souls into nurturing our children. We are not just teachers. We are mentors, advocates, and role models. Yet, we are faced with this negativity that undermines our efforts and truly impacts our entire community.

This cannot continue! We need to be one voice. We are here for the children! Please remember that.

Thank you.”
