Rep. Sheehan Co-Sponsors Bill to Support Home-Delivered Meals to Illinois Seniors (Homer Glen, IL) – State Representative Patrick Sheehan (R-Homer Glen) has co-sponsored House Bill 1541, looking to enhance support for Illinois seniors. The bill allocates funding to programs within the Illinois Department on Aging and the Department of Human Services.

HB1541 is tackling the pressing issue of food security for Illinois seniors. The bill dedicates $25 million from the General Revenue Fund to the Department on Aging’s Home Delivered Meals Program. This means more seniors across the state will receive nutritious meals right at their doorstep, helping to fight hunger and promote their overall well-being. By supporting this program, HB1541 aims to ensure that some of our most vulnerable community members have access to the food they need.

“Our seniors have given so much to our communities, and it’s our duty to ensure they receive the support and services they deserve,” Rep. Sheehan said. “As our senior population grows more and more, it’s crucial that we secure the necessary funding to support them. Ensuring that our seniors continue to receive meals through these programs is a top priority of mine.”

HB1541 would also include financial support for senior employment programs and aid for grandparents raising grandchildren. Read more about the bill at Illinois General Assembly – Bill Status for HB1541.
