The report found that overall, cardiovascular disease-related deaths occur more frequently in CCDPH’s South jurisdiction, which has a substantial Black population, compared to the Southwest jurisdiction, whose population is predominantly white.
The Bridge Fund Program was launched at the beginning of August to offer local taxing jurisdictions a lower-cost borrowing option for local taxing bodies. Qualifying taxing bodies such as municipalities, park districts, schools, etc. have been able to apply for a short-term loan with the County.

The thirty-four grants were awarded to individual organizations and coalitions serving city neighborhoods and suburban municipalities that the ongoing gun violence epidemic has impacted most.
“We can state with confidence that our program reached business owners and communities hardest hit by COVID. This is evidenced by the fact that 66% of participants are members of Black, Brown, Indigenous Nation, or Asian American communities and 55% of are women entrepreneur."
