“For our students to be successful in school, it is important they are provided with new supplies each year,” said Joyce. “I urge all Illinois families and educators to make use of this tax break in order to contribute to our students’ success.”
The event is free to all residents, though each car is limited to three boxes of documents. It will last until 1 p.m. or until all shred trucks are full.
I am proud to tell you this month about a number of positive outcomes from our work in Springfield that will help people in our district and drive our state forward in the right direction.

As I travel around the 40th Senate District, I hear time and again about the importance of public safety. We see the news reports all the time of lawlessness and crime in our large cities, and we simply cannot stand for that happening here.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” I was reminded of these powerful words from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. when I gave a brief speech in Kankakee earlier this month at a prayer breakfast on the birthday of the celebrated civil rights leader.

I am extra thankful for those in the 40th District who joined us in our call to send cards and letters to local veterans who now live at the Illinois Veterans’ Home in Manteno to let them know we will never forget them.
