“Improving quality of life and making it easier for residents to get around the County is a top priority of my administration,” said Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle.
The declaration also authorizes emergency procurements to facilitate the state's response. The proclamation takes effect immediately and is in place for 30 days.

Of the businesses selected for licenses, 41% are majority Black-owned, 7% are majority White-owned, and 4% are majority Latino-owned, while 38% of awardees did not disclose the race of their owners
"There are countless communities across the state that have been touched by the opioid crisis. This funds from this settlement allow the agency's Division on Substance Use Prevention and Recovery to provide treatment for those struggling with opioid addiction," said Illinois Department of Human Services Secretary Grace B.
