Veteran Business Project Launches New City of Chicago Partnership to Bring Veteran-Owned Businesses to All 50 Wards (Chicago, IL) – Veteran Business Project (VBP) is proud to announce the launch of “A Veteran-Owned Business in All 50 Wards,” a new initiative connecting Chicago veterans with opportunities to own and operate businesses in their neighborhoods. Building on the success of last year’s certification program, this initiative empowers veterans while fostering economic growth across the city.
“This initiative represents the next step in our mission to empower veterans through entrepreneurship,” said Lynn Lowder, CEO and co-founder of VBP. “By helping veterans establish businesses in every ward, we’re not only providing them with opportunities to thrive but also contributing to the revitalization of Chicago’s neighborhoods. This partnership demonstrates how we can unite communities, veterans and local leaders to create lasting, positive change.”
The program begins with pilots in the 6th Ward on the South Side and the 36th Ward on the Northwest Side, where Alderman William Hall and Alderman Gilbert Villegas are leading its rollout.
“Veterans bring unparalleled leadership, dedication, and resilience to everything they do,” said Alderman Gilbert Villegas, 36th Ward. “In the 36th Ward, this program will not only transform the lives of veterans but also spark growth and opportunity for our community.”
“The 6th Ward is ready to embrace this initiative as a means to empower our veterans and uplift our community,” said Alderman William Hall, 6th Ward. “By helping veterans become business owners, we’re addressing economic challenges while building stronger connections among residents. I look forward to seeing the impact this will have on our businesses and neighborhoods.”
What the Program Means to the Community:
- For Veterans: This program provides a clear pathway to entrepreneurship with tools, mentorship, and resources tailored to veterans’ unique needs. VBP’s vharmony™ model connects veterans with business owners ready to sell, ensuring a smooth transition and fostering long-term success.
- For Business Owners: Business owners preparing to retire or transition gain access to motivated buyers who understand the value of community. Selling to a veteran not only preserves jobs but also ensures the business continues to thrive.
- For Residents: Veteran-owned businesses bring jobs, goods, and services to neighborhoods, creating hubs of economic activity and community connection. They strengthen the local economy and enhance quality of life for all residents.
The initiative demonstrates VBP’s mission: “Offering Hope and Saving Lives” through entrepreneurship by equipping veterans with the resources, mentorship, and tools they need to succeed. Veteran Business Project invites local businesses, corporate sponsors, and community members to join in making this vision a reality. For more information, visit www.veteranbusinessproject.org
