Violence Prevention Coordinating Council Hosting Gun Violence Prevention & Mental Health Workshop (Park Forest, IL) — On Saturday, April 13, 2024, Kingdom Church International, which is the south suburban lead agency for the Violence Prevention Coordinating Council, is hosting a Gun Violence Prevention & Mental Health Workshop.

“It is important to give members of the community the tools and knowledge to prevent gun violence and take care of their mental health,” said Tiffany Lyles Williams of In Tandem Workforce, Inc. “This event is for the entire community, including residents, business leaders, government officials, those in education and everyone in between.”

The event will run from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on April 13 and will be held at the Empowerment Center, 202 Forest Boulevard in Park Forest (across from the Park Forest Police Department). It will feature workshops on gun violence prevention, domestic violence prevention, mental health, and youth empowerment. It is free to attend, free lunch is provided and free resources will be available, including gun locks. Registration is not required, but only those registered are guaranteed lunch and other free items.
