Illinois, the Vassal State of California (Chicago, IL) — State Representative Edgar Gonzalez, Jr. (D-Chicago) recently introduced House Bill 1634, which seeks to have Illinois automatically adopt the vehicle emissions standards of California.

According to HB 1634, whenever California changes or updates their vehicle emissions standards, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency will update their rules to match the rules and changes established by California.

The measure is also sponsored by Rep. Janet Yang Rohr (D-Naperville) and Rep. Bob Morgan (D-Highwood).
