“We need some help in our community,” Roberts said. “These breaks keep happening and we can’t get anywhere to fix these problems as long the breaks keep occurring. I am hopeful, we can get the Village of Dixmoor declared a disaster area and we get some emergency funding to address these issues.”

The lottery was the first to include the LP since their candidate for Cook County State’s Attorney candidate, Brian Dennehy. received more than 5% of the vote in the 2020 general election.
“Gun violence is not acceptable anywhere, and can never be accepted as normal. We cannot accept children growing up without parents, lost to gun violence. We cannot accept a world where parents lose their children to senseless shootings,” said Cook County Commissioner Frank J. Aguilar.
“The Sheriff’s Office will continue to work closely with other law enforcement agencies and engage automakers to reduce dangerous car thefts and carjackings in Cook County.”
A total of $8,985,634 will be distributed across 39 municipalities and three townships to fund two transit, 16 pedestrian, 11 bicycle, one freight and 13 road projects.
The thirty-four grants were awarded to individual organizations and coalitions serving city neighborhoods and suburban municipalities that the ongoing gun violence epidemic has impacted most.
“We cannot lose sight of our core mission and the evil that we often face... We truly are the last line of defense against a wave of violent criminals who are intent on killing, raping, and robbing. Without us and the work we do, our free society fails. This can never be ignored."
