The legislation was prompted by an investigation into Crown Cremations and Heights Crematory in Chicago Heights. In February 2025, a whistleblower provided photos and information describing conditions at the facility, leading the comptroller's office to discover that more than 100 bodies had been improperly stored. #cremations #chicagoheights #legislation
