Chicago’s proposed ordinance would prohibit the sale of all hemp-derived products citywide. On Wednesday, the City Council’s Committee on License and Consumer Protection advanced the measure on a 10–6 vote, sending it to the full council for consideration. #prohibition #ban

By restricting the regulation to only beverages, this bill neglects the many other hemp-derived products available to consumers, creating an inconsistent regulatory framework across the industry. #hemp

Federally legal hemp products include cosmetics, personal care products, dietary supplements or food intended for human or animal consumption, health and wellness products for pain relief and stress management, cloth, cordage, fiber, fuel, paint, paper, particleboard, and any product containing one or more cannabinoids derived from hemp, including cannabidiol. #hemp
