The theme of the day was “Rising to the Challenge.” Profound and heartfelt speeches were delivered by the children on each awardee, highlighting the accomplishments and characteristics of the leaders.

"It's always a pleasure to watch young people express themselves," said Walter Mosby III, the President of the Park Forest-Chicago Heights School District 163 Board. "It's all student-led and student-driven. That's one of the great things about this school. We give our students the opportunity to express themselves and to grow, and to learn. It's a wonderful opportunity."
