Series of Water Main Breaks Forces School Closure in Dixmoor (Dixmoor, IL) — A series of water main breaks in Dixmoor has forced temporary closure of Dixmoor schools, according to Dixmoor Village President Fitzgerald Roberts.

Over the weekend, the Village experienced three water main breaks and another main broke on Monday morning. The Village has isolated the break and so there is partial service to the community, but the schools are affected prompting the closure. The break this morning occurred at 2011 W. 147th Street.

“We are working around the clock to get this break fixed,” Roberts said. “I am also reaching out to Governor JB Pritzker as well as other state and county officials to expedite the help we need to get a permanent resolution to the water problems our Village continues to have. We need help and we need it now. These breaks and disruptions in service need to stop.”

Village Hall is located at 170 W 145th St. in Dixmoor. The number to reach Village Hall is 708-389-6121.
