State Rep. Patrick Sheehan Sworn In for First Full Term in Illinois House of Representatives (Springfield, IL) – State Representative Patrick Sheehan was sworn in for his first full term in the Illinois House of Representatives during the inauguration of the 104th General Assembly which took place at the University of Illinois-Springfield on Wednesday.
“It is truly a privilege to continue representing the residents of Illinois’ 37th House District in the 104th General Assembly,” said Sheehan. “I look forward to more opportunities to champion the interests of our communities at the Capitol and serve my constituents back home. I encourage everyone throughout the 37th district to reach out to my office to express their thoughts on State issues and contact me whenever I can be of assistance.”
Representative Sheehan, who hails from Chicago’s Beverly neighborhood, began serving the Southland community as a Plainfield police officer in 2006. Sheehan was appointed to the 37th House District, which comprises parts of Will and suburban Cook Counties, in April of 2024 to fill the vacancy of retiring Representative Tim Ozinga.
Sheehan says he is excited to continue working on key issues he focused on during his first term. “My foremost priority is to make Illinois a place where families want to live, not escape from,” he said. “By advocating for lower property taxes, less regulations on small businesses, and improved public safety, we can build a state where hard-working families thrive and communities stay safe.”
Representative Sheehan previously served as a member of the committees on Appropriations-Public Safety, Counties & Townships, Energy & Environment, Ethics & Elections, Restorative Justice, Revenue & Finance, and Elementary & Secondary Education: Administration, Licensing & Charter Schools. The Illinois House of Representatives will continue to be comprised of 78 Democrats and 40 Republicans during the 104th General Assembly, with Representatives Chris Welch and Tony McCombie retaining their roles as House Speaker and House Minority Leader respectively.
