Illinois Democrats to Host Community Baby Shower With Belleville Partners (Belleville, IL) – The Democratic Party of Illinois is partnering with The Doula Lab and 114th House District candidate George McClellan to host a community baby shower aimed at providing free infant supplies to families in the Metro East region.

The event is scheduled for Aug. 1 and will offer essential baby items, including diapers, baby formula and other infant care supplies, to help support parents and newborns.

The Democratic Party of Illinois is also encouraging the public to contribute through an online donation registry to help expand the number of families served during the event.

Party Chair Lisa Hernandez said the collaboration is intended to provide direct support to underserved families while highlighting ongoing efforts to address maternal health disparities.

“Collective action is how we support and advocate for underserved families, and I’m proud to do it alongside The Doula Lab and candidate McClellan,” Hernandez said in a statement. “I encourage Democrats and volunteers to contribute what they can to our community event. Every bib, breast pump or baby bottle goes to parents and babies.”

According to the Democratic Party of Illinois, the community baby shower is part of the organization’s broader focus on improving maternal and infant health, particularly addressing disparities in Black maternal health outcomes.

The party said its efforts include both legislative initiatives and community outreach programs designed to increase access to resources for expecting and new parents.
