Blue Island Park District to Offer Dance Classes (Blue Island, IL) — The Blue Island Park District in conjunction with the Dancing Around Dance Studio is offering a wide range of dance classes for kids beginning on April 11th.

Kids as young as preschool age can take ballet and tap dance classes. Ballet is the core of dance which will teach the children rhythm and coordination while Tap is a fun dance style to introduce the children to choreography. Pink Ballet and Black Tap shoes are required with a pink leotard and pink tights. Hair should be in a ponytail or bun behind the head.

When: Apr. 11 – May. 30
Where: Memorial Park Banquet Hall
Time: 4:30pm – 5:15pm for 3–4-year-olds; 5:15pm – 6:00pm for 5–7-year-olds
Fee: $65 for residents and $70 for nonresidents

The Park District is also offering hip and jazz dance classes. Hip hop and a combination of jazz are the latest street steps that have become an extremely popular form of dance. A black leotard with black Jazz shoes is required.

Fee: $65 for residents and $70 for nonresidents

“These classes are an affordable and fun way to introduce young kids to the art of dance,” said Luiz Montoya, Blue Island Park District Director of Recreation. “There are still spots available for the young dancers in your family but hurry before they go.”
