PSC to Honor Veterans with Ceremony, Art Exhibit, and Athletics Events in November (Chicago Heights, IL) – Prairie State College (PSC) in Chicago Heights will recognize veterans and their contributions with a series of public events throughout November, culminating in a Veterans Day ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the college’s Conference Center Auditorium. PSC Board Trustee Bishop Ronald White is scheduled to deliver the keynote address. The event will include a special recognition of the Village of Richton Park, followed by fellowship and lunch. Attendees are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to support Toys for Tots. A $5 raffle for a $250 gift basket will also be held, with proceeds benefiting veterans at the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs Prince Home.
In addition, PSC will host a month-long art exhibition titled “The Art of Valor: Created, Remembered, Renewed” at the Christopher Art Gallery from Nov. 10 through Dec. 11. The exhibit features artwork created by U.S. military veterans, highlighting personal stories and creative expression. A public reception with the artists is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The college will also hold Veterans Appreciation Basketball Games on Thursday, Nov. 20, at the PSC Fieldhouse. The women’s team will tip off at 5 p.m., followed by the men’s team at 7 p.m., as both Pioneers squads face South Suburban College. The Bloom Township High School Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps will present the colors, and veterans in attendance will be recognized during the event.
All events are free and open to the public. Complimentary parking will be available.
