Poll Shows Robin Kelly Gaining Momentum in Illinois U.S. Senate Race (Chicago, IL) – A new poll shows Congresswoman Robin Kelly gaining ground in the race for U.S. Senate, boosted by her “People Over Profits” platform and a message centered on affordability for working families.
Kelly, who has represented Illinois in Congress since 2013, is positioning herself as the most progressive candidate in the field. Her campaign says voters are responding to her focus on rising costs for housing, child care, health care and other essentials — pressures she says are pushing families into difficult financial choices.
“We need more voices in the United States Senate focused on what truly matters: the kitchen table issues keeping Americans up at night,” Kelly said in a statement. “The fight for affordability is the fight for dignity… It’s time to finally make the wealthy and well-connected pay their fair share.”
Kelly’s platform, released in September, outlines a series of proposals she says would ease financial burdens and strengthen economic security for families across the state. Her agenda includes taxing ultra-wealthy households, raising the federal minimum wage to at least $17 per hour by 2030, and capping child-care costs so families pay no more than $15 a day.
She is also calling for an expansion of Medicare, stronger Social Security benefits through the Social Security 2100 Act, and sweeping investments in affordable housing, including caps on rent increases and stricter limits on corporate landlords.
On energy and infrastructure, Kelly points to her role on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, where she has supported federal investments in clean water systems, public transit, disaster preparedness and electric vehicle charging networks.
Kelly argues her record shows she can deliver results in Washington and vows to bring the same approach to the Senate.
