DuPage County Joins Statewide ‘Click It or Ticket’ Enforcement Campaign Ahead of Memorial Day (Wheaton, IL) – The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office is joining law enforcement agencies across Illinois in the annual “Click It or Ticket” campaign aimed at increasing seat belt use and reducing traffic fatalities during the busy Memorial Day travel period.

The enforcement campaign will run from May 15 through May 26 and will include increased patrols and high-visibility traffic enforcement throughout DuPage County.

“Buckle up every trip, every time,” DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick said. “Seat belts save lives, and we are committed to keeping our roads safe.”

During the campaign, officers will focus on seat belt violations during both daytime and nighttime hours. Authorities said motorists who fail to wear seat belts should expect to beh stopped and ticketed.

Illinois law requires all drivers and passengers to wear seat belts. State officials noted that while seat belt usage in Illinois increased to 93% in 2025, fatalities involving unrestrained occupants remain a major concern, particularly during nighttime driving.

The “Click It or Ticket” initiative is funded through federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
