Illinois Democrats Mark 100 Days Until Election with Statewide Organizing Push (Springfield, IL) – The Democratic Party of Illinois (DPI) marked 100 days before Election Day with a series of events across the state aimed at engaging voters, supporting Democratic candidates and expanding grassroots organizing efforts.
Through its coordinated campaign, Organize Illinois 2026, the party hosted more than a dozen events over the weekend, including canvass launches, a community health care fair, youth outreach activities, a beach cleanup and community events spanning multiple regions of Illinois.
According to the party, volunteers canvassed in every region of the state while Democratic leaders met with residents to discuss issues ahead of the November election.
“Over the weekend, we mobilized college and high school Democrats, we held a community cleanup, and canvassed in counties across the state,” DPI Chair Lisa Hernandez said in a statement. “This cycle, the Party has put even more of an emphasis on meeting voters where they are.”
Among the weekend’s featured events was a community health care fair in Rockford with Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton, who is also a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, and Democratic Party of Illinois Vice Chair Maurice West. The event included a panel discussion focused on health care issues.
The party also held several youth-focused events with elected officials and candidates, including State Rep. La Shawn K. Ford, who is running for Illinois’ 7th Congressional District, and Democratic state House candidate Demi Palecek.
Volunteers participated in a beach cleanup at Montrose Beach on Chicago’s North Side as part of the party’s environmental and community service efforts.
Canvass launches and organizing events also took place throughout Illinois, including in Knox, Rock Island, Lake, Cook and Kane counties. One canvass in Geneva featured Kane County Board District 11 candidate Julie Forbes, Illinois House District 65 candidate Ricky Rivard and Kane County clerk candidate Brenda Rodgers.
The party also highlighted participation in an “Increase the Peace” event in Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood and a canvass launch in Rock Island.
The Democratic Party said Organize Illinois 2026 was launched earlier this year to coordinate organizing efforts across Chicagoland, the collar counties, Central Illinois, Northwest Illinois, Southern Illinois and the Metro East. The campaign supports Democratic candidates at the federal, state and local levels through voter outreach, phone banking, door-to-door canvassing and community engagement.
With Election Day approaching, party leaders say the coordinated effort is intended to increase voter participation and strengthen Democratic organizing throughout Illinois.
