Diaper Drive Enters Final Week With Donations Bound for Five Local Food Pantries (East Dundee, IL) — Residents have until Friday, Oct. 30, to drop off diapers and baby wipes for state Rep. Suzanne Ness’ sixth annual diaper drive, an effort supporting families served by five local food pantries.

Online donations through an Amazon wish list will remain open through Thursday, Nov. 5, giving community members additional time to contribute.

Ness, D-East Dundee, said the collection has already drawn a strong response since it began last week. She is encouraging residents who are able to donate to help families manage the recurring cost of essential baby supplies.

“As a parent, I understand how daunting supermarket bills are these days,” Ness said in a statement. “Families shouldn’t have to grapple with whether or not a box of diapers will put them over their budget line.”

Donations will benefit the D300 Food Pantry, Crystal Lake Food Pantry, FISH Food Pantry, Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Food Pantry and Food for Greater Elgin Food Pantry.

Last year’s drive collected 27,725 diapers, 6,480 packages of baby wipes and approximately $13,000 to support families and local pantries, according to Ness’ office. The annual collection began in 2021.

This year’s effort brings together libraries, businesses, a church and public offices as collection sites, allowing residents to contribute at locations across several communities.

“We’ve seen such a wonderful influx of donations since the drive’s start last week which will help our young families here in our community get the essentials they need for their children to be safe, clean and healthy,” Ness said.

Diapers and wipes can be dropped off at the following locations through Oct. 30:

  • Algonquin Area Public Library: 2600 Harnish Drive, Algonquin.

  • D300 Central Office: 2550 Harnish Drive, Algonquin.

  • Baird & Warner: 1557 S. Randall Road, Algonquin.

  • Fox River MedSpa: 1543 S. Randall Road, Algonquin.

  • Northern Kane County Chamber: 20 S. Grove St., Carpentersville.

  • First Congregational Church: 461 Pierson St., Crystal Lake.

  • Alero Financial: 1950 Big Timber Road, Elgin.

  • Eastside Cafe: 311 Barrington Ave., East Dundee.

  • Ness’ district office: 611 E. Main St., East Dundee.

Ness emphasized that even modest contributions can help provide supplies families use every day.

“Every donation, no matter how small, can truly help make a difference,” she said.
