Cook County Sheriff’s Police to Conduct Traffic Safety Checkpoint in Elk Grove Village (Cook County, IL) – Cook County Sheriff’s Police, working with the Elk Grove Village and Mount Prospect police departments, will conduct a traffic safety checkpoint on Friday, Sept. 11, near the intersection of Busse Road and Howard Street.
Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced that the checkpoint is scheduled to operate from 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, until 1 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12.
Officers will check for compliance with Illinois driver’s license and vehicle registration requirements, as well as state seat belt and child passenger safety restraint laws. Police will also be watching for impaired drivers.
The checkpoint is part of ongoing roadway safety efforts intended to encourage seat belt use, promote safe travel and reduce vehicle crashes in Cook County.
The Cook County Sheriff’s Office said routine safety checkpoints are designed to emphasize the importance of complying with traffic laws and making safe decisions while driving.
The checkpoint is funded through a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
