Cook County Sheriff’s Police Announce Traffic Safety Checkpoint in Morton Grove (Cook County, IL) – The Cook County Sheriff’s Police will conduct a roadside safety checkpoint in Morton Grove, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced.
The checkpoint, with the Morton Grove Police Department, is scheduled from 6 p.m. Thursday, May 7, to 1 a.m. Friday, May 8. It will take place near the intersection of Harlem Avenue and Dempster Street.
During the checkpoint, officers will verify that drivers are in compliance with Illinois laws, including valid driver’s licenses and vehicle registration. Authorities will also check for seat belt use, proper child safety restraints, and signs of impaired driving.
Officials said the purpose of the checkpoint is to promote roadway safety, encourage seat belt use, and reduce vehicle crashes throughout Cook County.
The initiative is funded through a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
