Illinois AFL-CIO Endorses Juliana Stratton in U.S. Senate Campaign (Chicago, IL) – The Illinois AFL-CIO has endorsed Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton in her campaign for the U.S. Senate, adding one of the state’s largest labor organizations to her growing list of supporters ahead of the November election.

The Illinois AFL-CIO represents nearly one million workers across the state and cited Stratton’s record of supporting organized labor as a key reason for the endorsement.

Stratton welcomed the endorsement, saying she looks forward to continuing her partnership with organized labor while advocating for workers’ rights in Washington.

“I’m so proud to be endorsed by Illinois AFL-CIO and look forward to partnering with them not only to win in November, but to continue to fight for workers across Illinois together,” Stratton said. “Workers’ rights are under attack across the country, and organized labor needs champions at every level of government working to expand and protect their hard-won rights and benefits.”

She also highlighted accomplishments she says were achieved alongside labor organizations, including passage of Illinois’ Workers’ Rights Amendment and increases to the state’s minimum wage.

Illinois AFL-CIO President Tim Drea said Stratton has consistently supported working families and the labor movement throughout her public service career.

“Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton has been a true friend to Illinois workers and to the Illinois AFL-CIO, and we’re honored to support her campaign for U.S. Senate,” Drea said. “We know that Juliana will be a strong advocate for the labor movement and continue to defend us against the Trump Administration’s assault on workers’ rights.”

Drea added that Stratton would bring a pro-worker agenda to the U.S. Senate and continue advocating for policies benefiting working families.

Stratton’s campaign platform includes calls for higher wages, more affordable health care, and reducing the influence of corporate political action committee (PAC) money in politics.

The AFL-CIO endorsement adds to a list of supporters that includes Gov. JB Pritzker, U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth, EMILY’s List, End Citizens United, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, and other state and national organizations.
