Illinois Sheriffs’ Association to Award More Than $58,000 in College Scholarships (DuPage County, IL) – The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association announced it will award more than $58,000 in college scholarships to students across the state for the 2026–2027 academic year.

The scholarships are intended to help cover tuition, books and required fees for students pursuing higher education. To qualify, students must be enrolled full time at a certified college or university. Online programs are also eligible, as long as students are considered full-time.

As part of the program, DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick will award two scholarships of $750 each to local students.

The association said the scholarship program is open to all eligible students without regard to race, age, creed, color, sex or national origin. The primary eligibility requirement is that applicants must be permanent residents of Illinois.

The scholarships are part of the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association’s ongoing effort to support education and invest in the future of communities across the state. Additional details about application deadlines and procedures are expected to be released by participating county sheriff’s offices.
