Trustee Kiana Belcher Launches Campaign for Cook County 5th District Commissioner with Powerful Kickoff and Community Momentum (Cook County, IL) – With energy, purpose, and a proven track record of service, Trustee Kiana Belcher has officially launched her campaign for Cook County Commissioner of the 5th District. The campaign kicked off with a high- powered fundraiser in Chicago’s River North neighborhood, hosted at Giordano’s, drawing a packed room of supporters, donors, and local leaders ready to rally behind a candidate with real results and grassroots credibility.
Fresh off winning her second term as a Village of Dolton Trustee, earning over 80% of the vote—Belcher wasted no time after the announcement. She immediately began meeting with residents, small business owners, clergy, nonprofit leaders, and youth advocates across the district to hear their priorities, share her vision, and build momentum for a new chapter in leadership.
“People are tired of politics that talk at them instead of working with them,” said Belcher. “I’ve built my leadership on showing up, following through, and delivering outcomes that matter for families and communities.”
Belcher is no stranger to tough conversations and even tougher work. In her time as Trustee, she led initiatives that increased government transparency, advocated for economic development, and fought for everyday residents to have a seat at the table. Her commitment to service stems from her belief in collaboration, accountability, and community-first governance.
The 5th District, encompassing parts of Chicago’s South Side and southern suburbs, is one of the most diverse and vibrant regions in Cook County. Belcher’s campaign focuses on issues that directly impact working families: public safety, affordable housing, youth development, equitable health care, infrastructure, and economic opportunity.
“The communities of the 5th district deserve a commissioner who listens and leads with action,” said Belcher. “we’re building something bigger than a campaign, we’re building a movement rooted in solutions, inclusion, and bold leadership.”
Her campaign has already gained traction among civic leaders, educators, small business owners, and residents across the district. With strong name recognition, a record of accountability, and the backing of a mobilized base, Belcher is poised to be a defining voice in the upcoming election.
