Struggle at DuPage County Courthouse Sends Three Deputies to Hospital (DuPage County, IL) – A disturbance inside the DuPage County Courthouse Friday morning left three sheriff’s deputies hospitalized following a struggle with a man who had just appeared in court, authorities said.

The incident began around 10:15 a.m., shortly after a judge ordered the man to undergo an evaluation. As he attempted to leave the courthouse, deputies intercepted him near an escalator landing. According to the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, the man resisted and struck one of the deputies, causing both to tumble down the escalator.

Several deputies rushed in to assist, sparking a scuffle that left multiple officers injured. Three deputies were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their conditions had not been released as of Friday afternoon.

The man was taken into custody, and prosecutors with the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office are reviewing potential charges.

Officials emphasized that the courthouse and surrounding area remain secure and that the public is not in danger.
