Rainbow PUSH to Distribute Truckloads of Food to Families in Need (Chicago, IL) – As food prices continue to climb, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition is stepping up to help families struggling with grocery costs.

On Saturday, September 13, the civil rights organization will host Serving Hope with Helping Hands, a large-scale food distribution event at its national headquarters, 930 E. 50th St. The effort is made possible through partnerships with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and Delta Air Lines.

Two semi-trucks loaded with essential groceries — including chicken, beef, ham, cheese, cooking oil, flour, pasta, pancake mix, and other staples — will be handed out to residents beginning at 11 a.m. The distribution will continue until 3 p.m. or while supplies last.

“This is more than a food distribution—it’s about strengthening families, uplifting our community, and ensuring that no one faces hunger alone,” organizers said.

The day will begin with a community breakfast at 9 a.m., followed by Rainbow PUSH’s Saturday Morning Forum from 10 to 11 a.m. Food distribution will take place immediately afterward.

Organizers expect a large turnout and strongly encourage residents to register in advance at rainbowpush.org. Additional information is available by calling 773-373-3366.

Founded by the Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr., Rainbow PUSH has long championed social justice and community empowerment. The organization said this weekend’s event is part of its ongoing commitment to support families facing economic hardship.
