Jesse Jackson Discharged From Hospital, Family Says He Remains Stable (Chicago, IL) – Civil rights leader Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. was discharged Monday, Nov. 24th, from Northwestern Memorial Hospital and is resting in stable condition, his family announced.

In a statement, Jackson’s son and family spokesperson, Yusef Jackson, thanked supporters for the outpouring of prayers, visits and messages during the reverend’s hospitalization.

“Our family would like to thank the countless friends and supporters who have reached out, visited, and prayed for our father,” he said. “We bear witness to the fact that prayer works and would also like to thank the professional, caring, and amazing medical and security staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. We humbly ask for your continued prayers throughout this precious time.”

Rev. Jackson, 84, was first diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2013. In April, doctors updated the diagnosis to progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), a rare neurological disorder that affects balance, movement and muscle control.

No further details about his recent hospital stay were released, but the family emphasized gratitude and requested privacy as Jackson continues his recovery at home.
