Lyric Opera of Chicago Brings “Opera in the Neighborhoods” to Kennedy-King College (Chicago, IL) – The Lyric Opera of Chicago, in partnership with Kennedy-King College, will present a free community performance as part of its “Opera in the Neighborhoods” program on Saturday, May 2.
The event will feature Katie: The Strongest of the Strong, an opera centered on circus performer and suffragist Katie Sandwina. The performance is scheduled for 2 p.m. in the U-Building at Kennedy-King College, located at 740 W. 63rd Street, with entry available from 63rd Street.
Organizers said the event is free and open to the public, though reservations are required. The performance is part of Lyric Opera’s broader effort to expand access to the arts through community-based programming, following a series of workshops and performances during the spring 2026 season.
