Suburban Chicago Businessman Indicted in Alleged $4 Million Fraud Schemes (Chicago, IL) – A suburban Chicago businessman has been indicted on federal charges accusing him of orchestrating two fraud schemes that allegedly generated more than $4 million in illicit proceeds.

Federal prosecutors announced that a grand jury indictment unsealed Wednesday charges Raed Naser with 11 counts of wire fraud and four counts of money laundering.

According to the indictment, Naser owned a freight transportation company based in Orland Park and allegedly carried out a scheme involving fraudulent invoices for freight shipments that never occurred. Prosecutors also allege Naser defrauded a buyer in connection with the sale of bakery franchises by inflating the businesses’ value before the transaction.

Authorities claim the schemes netted millions of dollars, which Naser allegedly laundered through luxury purchases, including a Lamborghini Huracan, a BMW M8 Gran Coupe and a Cadillac Escalade.

Naser, 41, of Crown Point, Indiana, pleaded not guilty during his arraignment Wednesday before U.S. Magistrate Judge M. David Weisman in federal court in Chicago.

A status hearing has been scheduled for June 10, 2026, before U.S. District Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman.

The charges were announced by Andrew S. Boutros, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, along with officials from the FBI’s Chicago Field Office and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service’s Chicago Division.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Heidi Manschreck is representing the government in the case.

Federal officials emphasized that the indictment is not evidence of guilt and that Naser is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
