Clerk Monica Gordon Collects More Than 250 “Love Purses” for Domestic Violence Survivors (Cook County, IL) – In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Cook County Clerk Monica Gordon and her staff collected more than 250 “Love Purses” — handbags filled with personal care items and handwritten notes of encouragement — to support women receiving services at domestic violence agencies throughout the county.
The donations were gathered during the Clerk’s annual Love Purse event, which brought together employees and community members to show solidarity with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
The initiative was held in partnership with #LovePurse, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing essential items and messages of hope to women in crisis.
“Victims of domestic violence often feel isolated and alone,” said Gordon. “A simple gesture — like receiving a purse filled with supplies and a heartfelt note — can serve as a powerful reminder that they are seen, valued, and supported.”
The “Love Purses” will be distributed to local shelters and partner organizations across Cook County.
