Illinois Liquor Control Commission Hosts Virtual Youth Alcohol Awareness Summit (Chicago, IL) – The Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) will host its Annual Youth Alcohol Awareness Summit (YAAS) on October 22, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., inviting youth, parents, educators, and community members from across the state to participate in a virtual day of education and conversation about underage drinking and alcohol misuse.
Designed to promote understanding and prevention, the summit aims to provide young people with practical tools to make informed decisions about alcohol use. The event will feature personal stories, prevention strategies, and open dialogue about the social pressures that shape young people’s attitudes toward drinking.
“This is a great event for youth, parents, and community members to engage in meaningful conversations about youth alcohol education and prevention,” said ILCC Executive Director Lisa Gardner. “Our Youth Alcohol Awareness student panel will address a wide range of topics directly from the perspective of college students, including building trust between parents and young adults, consent, and having fun without alcohol.”
The summit’s agenda includes a keynote address by Martin Lockett, titled “One Night of Fun Can Lead to a Lifetime of Regret,” followed by Noel Sanchez presenting on the ILCC Safe Program, which focuses on underage drinking prevention. The day will conclude with a Youth Alcohol Panel, where college students will share their experiences navigating peer pressure, social media influence, and campus culture.
The ILCC, which regulates the manufacture, distribution, and sale of alcoholic beverages in Illinois, also leads statewide education and enforcement initiatives aimed at reducing youth access to alcohol.
Registration for the 2025 Virtual Youth Alcohol Awareness Summit is free and open to the public. To learn more, visit www.ILCC.Illinois.gov. To register, visit Youth Alcohol Awareness Summit.
