Commissioner Degnen to Host Sixth Annual Fall Nature Fest at LaBagh Woods (Chicago, IL) – Cook County Commissioner Bridget Degnen is inviting residents to step outside and enjoy the changing season at her Sixth Annual Fall Nature Fest, set for Saturday, Sept. 13, from noon to 3 p.m. at LaBagh Woods.
The free, family-friendly event aims to connect the community with the Cook County Forest Preserves, local environmental organizations, and eco-conscious businesses. More than 70 vendors are slated to participate, alongside food trucks, children’s activities, music, and raffles.
“This event is an amazing opportunity to get our community into LaBagh Woods and connected with nature,” Degnen said. “Fall Nature Fest showcases both our beautiful Forest Preserves and the organizations dedicated to preserving our environment.”
Highlights of the afternoon include a Brookfield Zoo animal showcase at 12:15 p.m., a performance by the Jesse White Tumblers at 1:30 p.m., and raffle prize announcements beginning at 2 p.m. DJ Firm will provide music throughout the festival, while kids can enjoy face painting and hands-on nature programs led by the Forest Preserves.
LaBagh Woods is located just north of Foster Avenue on Cicero Avenue. Organizers encourage attendees to walk, bike, or take public transit. The CTA’s 54A Cicero and 92 Foster buses stop nearby, and the Metra Forest Glen station is about a 15-minute walk away.
Sponsors for this year’s fest include several state legislators, local alderpersons, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, Brookfield Zoo, and community partners such as Common Pantry and WasteNot Compost.
