Rep. Danny Davis Endorses Juliana Stratton in U.S. Senate Race (Chicago, IL) – U.S. Rep. Danny Davis (D-Ill.) on Monday became the first member of Illinois’ congressional delegation to endorse Juliana Stratton in her campaign for the U.S. Senate.
Davis, who has represented Illinois’ 7th District since 1997, joined State Sen. Mattie Hunter, State Rep. Camille Lilly, Ald. Emma Mitts, and Pastor Michael Eaddy in voicing support for Stratton, the state’s lieutenant governor.
“Juliana Stratton has proven herself to be a dedicated leader with a deep commitment to creating a better future for all Illinoisans,” Davis said in a statement. “She has always put the needs of our state first, working to expand opportunity, uplift working families, and hear every voice. I am proud to support her and confident that she will continue to deliver for our communities in the Senate.”
Stratton, who launched her Senate bid earlier this year, said she was “deeply honored” to receive Davis’ backing. “His lifelong commitment to public service and tireless advocacy for the 7th District inspire me every day,” she said.
Davis’ endorsement adds to a growing list of prominent figures supporting Stratton’s candidacy. She has already secured endorsements from Gov. JB Pritzker, U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth, House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch, and former U.S. Sen. Carol Moseley Braun. Former Secretary of State Jesse White and former Rep. Bobby Rush also endorsed Stratton last month.
Stratton has further consolidated support from dozens of state lawmakers, downstate mayors, county leaders, members of the Illinois Asian American Caucus, and more than 50 LGBTQ+ officials across the state.
Davis, a longtime advocate for health care, education, criminal justice reform, and economic opportunity, remains one of the state’s most influential political figures. His early support signals an effort to rally Chicago’s West Side and broader Democratic base behind Stratton as the Senate race begins to take shape.
