Cook County Clerk Launches Appointment System for Vital Records at Markham Courthouse (Markham, IL) – A new appointment system for Vital Records services is now in place at the Markham Courthouse, and Cook County officials say the rollout is running smoothly.

The Cook County Clerk’s Office introduced the system to cut down on wait times and improve customer service for Southland residents seeking birth certificates, marriage licenses, death certificates, and other official records.

Clerk Monica Gordon emphasized that accessibility and equity were central to the office’s approach. “We understand that not everyone has equal access to technology and our team is committed to ensuring that no one is left behind,” Gordon said. “We are providing in-person support to make this transition as smooth and inclusive as possible.”

To ensure that services remain accessible to all residents, the Clerk’s Office has stationed laptops at the courthouse and staffed employees to help walk-in visitors schedule their appointments on-site. Visitors who arrive without an appointment will also be given a QR code upon entry, allowing them to book on a mobile device.

Appointments can be made online in advance through the Clerk’s website at cookcountyclerk.com/vitals, with scheduling options available in the days ahead.

The Clerk’s Office said it welcomes feedback from the public and remains committed to providing equitable, high-quality service to residents across Cook County’s Southland communities.
