Cook County Clerk Launches Appointment System at Markham Courthouse to Cut Wait Times (Markham IL) – Starting September 2, residents seeking birth, death, marriage, and other vital records at the Markham courthouse will need to schedule an appointment in advance under a new system introduced by Cook County Clerk Monica Gordon.
The initiative, aimed at improving efficiency and customer service, targets the Southland’s busiest suburban Vital Records location. Appointments can be booked online through the Clerk’s Office website, www.cookcountyclerk.com/vitals, with flexible scheduling options available.
“This appointment system is not just about reducing wait times, it’s about delivering to the community to make the Clerk’s Office more efficient and customer-friendly,” Gordon said. “We are committed to continuous improvements to ensure every resident receives timely and respectful service.”
For walk-ins, the Clerk’s Office will provide QR codes at the courthouse entrance so customers can schedule appointments using their mobile devices. Those without smartphones will have access to an on-site laptop to complete bookings.
The Markham launch builds on recent updates at the Clerk’s downtown Chicago Vital Records and Recording Operations offices, where visitors can check in through a self-service kiosk or mobile phone and receive text alerts when their number is called.
The move fulfills one of the recommendations from Gordon’s Transition Team, which urged the Clerk’s Office to expand its use of digital tools to streamline operations and improve service delivery.
