Donna Miller Opens First Campaign Office in Flossmoor (Flossmoor, IL) – Congressional candidate and Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller will open her first campaign office this weekend, marking a new phase in her bid for the open 2nd Congressional District seat.
Miller is hosting a grand opening Sunday, Jan. 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. at her new campaign headquarters at 1835 Dixie Highway, Building B, Suite 200, in Flossmoor.
Miller, a longtime south suburban resident, is among the leading candidates seeking to succeed U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly, who currently represents the district. Miller’s Cook County district overlaps significantly with the 2nd Congressional District, giving her an established base of constituents across much of the area.
The 2nd District spans urban, suburban and rural communities across parts of Chicago and the south suburbs. According to campaign officials, African American women make up more than half of the Democratic primary electorate, and about 62% of primary voters live in the south suburbs — an area where Miller has lived for more than two decades, raised her family and served as a county commissioner for nearly eight years.
Campaign officials said the new office will serve as a hub for organizing, volunteer recruitment and voter outreach as the primary approaches.
“This is the point in the campaign when all of the infrastructure we’ve put in place since our announcement last summer comes together for a sprint to the finish line,” Miller said in a statement. “The open house is an invitation to constituents to get involved.”
Supporters, volunteers and residents are invited to attend the grand opening to meet the candidate, learn about the campaign and sign up to help with canvassing and voter outreach efforts.
