DuPage County Sheriff Reports St. Patrick’s Day Enforcement Results (Wheaton, IL) – The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office released the results of its St. Patrick’s Day traffic enforcement campaign, highlighting a range of citations and arrests aimed at keeping roadways safe during the holiday.
The enforcement period ran from March 13 through 6 a.m. on March 23 and focused on impaired driving, seat belt compliance, speeding, and distracted driving.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies made one impaired-driving arrest involving alcohol, cannabis, or other drugs. Authorities also reported one seat belt citation during the campaign.
Speeding remained one of the most common violations, with 19 tickets issued. Deputies also cited nine drivers for distracted driving.
In addition, two individuals were arrested for driving without a valid driver’s license. One criminal arrest for battery was also reported during the enforcement period.
Beyond those incidents, deputies issued 28 additional citations for various traffic violations.
Officials emphasized that enforcement efforts like these are designed to reduce crashes and encourage safe driving habits, particularly during holidays when celebrations can lead to increased risks on the road.
