Iron Workers District Council Endorses Robert Peters for Congress (Chicago, IL) – (Monday, August 4, 2025) – The Iron Workers District Council of Chicago and Vicinity endorsed Robert Peters for Congress in Illinois’ 2nd District on Monday, citing Peters’ extensive track record as a champion for the labor movement.
“Robert Peters has been a rock solid ally of ours and of organized labor during his time as a State Senator,” said Jim Gardiner, President of the Iron Workers District Council of Chicago and Vicinity. “He has earned our trust and our support to go to Washington to defend our rights and protect working people.”
“I am grateful to have the support of the Iron Workers in this race,” said Peters. “From my time as a community organizer, to my current work as Chair of the Senate Labor Committee, I’ve always felt deeply connected to the labor movement. As workers come under attack from the Trump administration, we need leaders in Congress who are ready to stand up and fight back. That’s what I’ll do as Congressman of the 2nd District.”
The Iron Workers District Council of Chicago and Vicinity has more than 6,500 members across Illinois, with many in the 2nd District. The union joins the Amalgamated Transitworkers Union and Local 881 UFCW in supporting Peters, in addition to Sen.
