Joe DeBose Announces Run for Illinois House District 118 (Marion, IL) – Conservative leader and small business owner Joe DeBose has entered the race for Illinois’ 118th House District, pledging to be a strong voice for Southern Illinois in Springfield.
The seat is open following State Rep. Paul Jacobs’ decision to run for the State Senate. DeBose, a Marion resident, said he wants to provide what he calls “an unapologetic conservative fighter” to represent the region.
“I’ve had enough of the budgets in Springfield growing larger and larger while the family budgets in Southern Illinois grow smaller by the day,” DeBose said in his campaign launch. “My commitment is simple: to stand firm, speak the truth, and work hard every day to protect our freedoms, lower taxes, and deliver results for Southern Illinois.”
DeBose outlined several priorities for his campaign, including blocking tax increases, eliminating wasteful spending, and lowering utility bills by rolling back energy mandates. He also emphasized support for law enforcement, veterans, local job growth, and what he described as keeping “politics out of the classroom.”
A vocal critic of Democratic leadership in Springfield, DeBose said he would resist policies he sees as harmful to Southern Illinois. “Chicago politicians are working overtime to make Illinois one of the most far-left states in the country,” he said. “We must not allow them to be successful in their harmful agenda.”
DeBose is pro-life, a supporter of the Second Amendment, and an advocate for parental rights.
Born and raised in Southern Illinois, he served six years in the Army National Guard. He lives in Marion with his family, runs a small business, and has worked as a policy advisor.
The 118th District covers Alexander, Pulaski, Union, and portions of Williamson and Jackson counties. The Republican primary is scheduled for March 17.
