Love & Protect Wisdom Launches “Towers Over Domestic Violence” Campaign in Chicago (Chicago, IL) – As Domestic Violence Awareness Month approaches, Chicago nonprofit Love & Protect Wisdom (LPW) is gearing up for its annual citywide campaign, “Towers Over Domestic Violence,” running from October 20 to 26. The initiative aims to raise awareness, engage the community, and provide critical resources for survivors.
Central to the campaign is a call for residents and businesses to light up their spaces in purple—the official color of domestic violence awareness. Prominent city landmarks, including Willis Tower, John Hancock Center, Blue Cross Blue Shield Tower, and the Prudential Building, will participate, transforming the skyline into a symbol of hope and solidarity.
The week kicks off with the inaugural “Tower Over Domestic Violence” Fundraiser at VU Rooftop Bar on Monday, October 20, from 6 to 10 p.m. The event will feature keynote remarks from Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller, along with live music, food, and drinks. Funds raised will support LPW programs such as counseling, legal advocacy, educational workshops, and support groups for survivors.
Additional events include a collaborative fashion show with survivors hosted by KHOI and a week of free fitness classes at Orangetheory Fitness. Residents are encouraged to participate by attending events, sharing awareness on social media with #TowerOverDomesticViolence, and illuminating their homes, offices, and storefronts in purple.
