PepsiCo Donates Diesel Trucks, Expands Scholarships for City Colleges Students (Chicago, IL) – City Colleges of Chicago Foundation, Olive-Harvey College, PepsiCo, and the PepsiCo Foundation are deepening their partnership to expand educational opportunities and workforce training, announcing new scholarships and the donation of two diesel trucks for student learning.

The announcement will be celebrated Sept. 29 at Olive-Harvey College’s Transportation, Distribution & Logistics Building on Chicago’s Far South Side.

Since 2025, more than 200 City Colleges students have received over $600,000 in PepsiCo Foundation scholarships, helping them pursue high-demand careers in manufacturing, transportation, distribution, and logistics. The new investment will continue to provide students with financial assistance and open doors to higher-wage job opportunities.

“This partnership … is more than an investment, it’s a powerful commitment to building futures,” said Veronica Herrero, executive vice chancellor and president of the City Colleges Foundation. “With hands-on tools like donated diesel trucks and life-changing scholarships, together, we’re creating real pathways from the classroom to great careers.”

The two diesel trucks, donated directly by PepsiCo, will be used in Olive-Harvey College’s Diesel Technology program, giving students real-world training with the same equipment they are likely to use in the field. College officials say the gift will provide practical experience that builds both confidence and skills.

“At PepsiCo and the PepsiCo Foundation, we believe that when individuals have access to education, training, and capital they can unlock opportunities and strengthen our communities,” said C.D. Glin, president of the PepsiCo Foundation. “Through our scholarship programs, we’re proud to help open pathways of prosperity for the next generation of leaders.”

Olive-Harvey College President Dr. Kimberly Hollingsworth called the partnership “a bridge to opportunity.” She said the combination of scholarships and equipment will ensure students are job-ready on day one after completing their studies.

The partnership reflects a shared effort to close opportunity gaps in underserved communities, aligning PepsiCo’s broader social impact goals with City Colleges’ mission to prepare students for in-demand careers.
