Personal PAC Statement on Shameful Supreme Court Rulings in Medina v. Planned Parenthood (Chicago, IL) – (June 26, 2025) – Today, in a disgraceful 6-3 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court sided with anti-abortion politicians in Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, paving the way for states to block Medicaid patients from getting care at providers they trust, like Planned Parenthood. Following the decision, Personal PAC President and CEO Sarah Garza Resnick issued the following statement:
“Today’s decision is a devastating blow to health care access and reproductive freedom, particularly for low-income and rural communities who rely on Medicaid for lifesaving care. By allowing states to block Medicaid patients from receiving services at Planned Parenthood, the Court has turned its back on millions of people and their right to pick their health care provider.
“This ruling doesn’t just impact Planned Parenthood — it opens the door for anti-abortion politicians to further erode public health systems and target clinics that provide abortion, birth control, gender-affirming care, and other essential services. It is yet another example of how Republicans are using the courts to dismantle the safety net that so many families rely on.
“Illinois will not back down. We remain a national leader in protecting reproductive rights and expanding access for all people, regardless of income or ZIP code. Personal PAC is more committed than ever to electing leaders who will stand up to attacks on health care and ensure that no one is denied care because of who they are or how much they make.”
