Prairie State College to Host 2025 Manufacturing Symposium on August 21 (Chicago Heights, IL) – Prairie State College (PSC) will bring together industry leaders, educators, and workforce experts for its 2025 Manufacturing Symposium on Thursday, Aug. 21, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the PSC Conference Center.
Organized by PSC’s Workforce Development and Community Education division in partnership with MakeItInIllinois, the full-day event will tackle critical issues in manufacturing and workforce training.
Key sessions include a talk from manufacturing social media influencer Drew Crowe on the future of the industry; a discussion on employer partnerships and workforce development; strategies for attracting and retaining Gen Z workers; and the benefits of apprenticeships and college credit programs for both businesses and employees.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour PSC’s mobile training centers, connect with colleagues, and explore hands-on training equipment during networking sessions.
“This symposium is a crucial step in aligning education with industry needs,” said Dr. Alisha Clark, PSC’s Dean of Workforce Development and Community Education. “By working directly with employers, Prairie State College is helping to strengthen the talent pipeline, address workforce shortages, and contribute to the region’s economic growth.”
The event aims to provide employers, educators, and workforce professionals with practical strategies for building and sustaining a skilled manufacturing workforce.
