Preston Announces $3 Million in State Funding for New Ogden Park Fieldhouse (Chicago, IL) – A long-awaited overhaul of Ogden Park’s aging fieldhouse is moving forward after State Sen. Willie Preston announced he has secured $3 million in state funding for the project.
Preston joined 17th Ward Ald. David Moore and other city and state officials this week to unveil plans for a new two-story fieldhouse that will replace the existing structure, which is more than 120 years old.
“This project represents a significant investment in the Englewood community, one that will provide every resident, young and old, with spaces and programs designed to help them thrive,” said Preston (D-Chicago). “The new fieldhouse will offer up-to-date facilities that will be fit to serve the community for years to come.”
According to officials, the new facility will feature club rooms, a boxing room, basketball courts, a fitness center and other community spaces intended to support youth and adult programming.
Demolition of the current fieldhouse is expected to begin later this year, with construction slated to continue through 2028.
Local leaders say the project marks one of the most significant investments in Ogden Park in decades and will play a major role in revitalizing recreational options for Englewood families.
