Preston Secures Nearly $2.3 Million for Infrastructure Upgrades in 16th District (Chicago, IL) – State Senator Willie Preston announced that nearly $2.3 million in state funding will be invested in infrastructure improvements across the 16th District as part of Illinois’ ongoing Rebuild Illinois capital program.

“Our infrastructure represents the backbone of our economy and our communities,” said Preston (D-Chicago). “By investing in new projects and continuing to improve upon existing ones, we are protecting the safety of the people of Illinois and laying the groundwork for easier, more efficient movement throughout our state.”

The funding comes through the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Multi-Year Plan — a six-year, $50.6 billion program that marks the largest infrastructure investment in state history. The initiative will fund projects in every Illinois county, addressing roads, bridges, aviation, rail, transit, waterways, and pedestrian pathways.

Preston’s 16th District will see four projects totaling more than $2.2 million in the coming year. The improvements are expected to enhance transportation safety, mobility, and overall quality of life for local residents.
